Bret Schundler is an American politican. He was the mayor of Jersey City from 1992 until 2001. Schundler attracted considerable national attention because he was a conservative Republican in a city where Republicans counted for only six percent of registered voters at the time.

Schundler carried predominantly African American precincts by margins previously unheard of for a Republican during his two re-election campaigns. Towards the end of his tenure as mayor, he served as chairman of the Hudson County Republican Committee. In 2006, he was the Managing Partner of People Power America, LLC. He is also the Chairman of Empower the People.
