Bud Collins is an American journalist. After his U.S. Army service, Bud joined the Boston Herald as a sportswriter. He later moved to the “Boston Globe” and also began doing tennis commentary for Boston’s PBS outlet, WGBH. In 1972, he joined NBC as a tennis broadcaster, a post which he presently holds.
Collins has written three books: “The Education of a Tennis Player”, “Evonne! On the Move”, and “My Life With the Pros”, as well as three editions of the tennis encyclopedia. In 1994, he was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. His trademark is his donning of “loud” pants, which he has custom-made from unique fabrics he collects while traveling for work.
