Grigory Alexeyevich Yavlinsky is a Russian economist, political figure, and reformer. In 1995 he and two other leaders created Yabloko, a Russian political party. Yabloko representatives later supported an effort to impeach Boris Yeltsin which eventually failed.

Yavlinsky remains a leading critic of Putin and of Russia’s leading United Russia Party. In 1996 and 2000, Yavlinsky ran for President with endorsement from his party. In 1996 he came in fourth place and received 7.3% of the vote. In 2000 presidential elections he came in third and received 5.8% of the vote.
