James Coburn (1928 - 2002) was an Oscar-winning American movie actor. He became famous as the “tough guy” in a variety of films, such as “The Magnificent Seven” and “The Great Escape”. Coburn?s first major success came in 1966 with “Our Man Flint”, a James Bond spoof. His independent films include “Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid”and “Cross of Iron”. He later appeared in “Young Guns II “, “Maverick”, and “Payback”. For his appearance as the abusive father of protagonist Nick Nolte in “Affliction” he received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1998.
