Helen Thomas is an American reporter. A Hearst Newspapers columnist, she is a member of the White House Press Corps. She has served for fifty-seven years as a correspondent and White House bureau chief for United Press International (UPI). She’s covered every president since John F. Kennedy, and was the first woman officer of the National Press Club.
Thomas has written four books, including her latest, “Watchdogs of Democracy?: The Waning Washington Press Corps and How It Has Failed the Public”. She has received numerous awards, including a a prize established in her name by the White House Correspondents Association - the Helen Thomas Lifetime Achievement Award, and she was inducted into the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame.
