Douglas Elwin Erikson is an American guitarist, bass guitarist and keyboard player and founding member of the band Garbage. He has been a member of several bands including Spooner, for which he was the main songwriter and singer, which released a four-song EP in 1979 followed by two full-length records. In the late 1980s he was in the band Firetown.
In 1994, Erikson formed Garbage in Madison, Wisconsin with Shirley Manson, Butch Vig and Steve Marker. The band?s self-titled debut album in 1995-1996 sold over 4 million copies and reached double platinum status in the United Kingdom, U.S. and Australia. Garbage spent two years working on their follow-up album ‘Version 2.0’, which topped the charts in the UK and hit #13 in the U.S. It was nominated for two Grammy Awards, album of the year and best rock album. In 1999, Garbage performed the theme song to the James Bond movie ‘The World Is Not Enough’.
