Adolf Grünbaum is a philosopher of science.

Grünbaum became professor of philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh in 1960, and later professor of the history and philosophy of science, both of which he retained until resigning from the Philosophy Department in 2003. He received the Lakatos Award and has been a strong critic of psychoanalysis.

In the 1960s Grünbaum founded the History and Philosophy of Science Department at Pitt. During this period the University hired Wilfrid Sellars, Nicholas Rescher, Nuel Belnap, and Alan Ross Anderson, among others. He is the senior Andrew Mellon Professor of Philosophy of Science, Chairman of the Center for Philosophy of Science, and Research Professor of Psychiatry all at the University of Pittsburgh.
