Sophia Victoria Fiennes is an English film director and producer.
In 1987, at the age of 19, she began her career working as a location manager for the film ‘Drowning by Numbers’. She eventually graduated to second assistant director and then art director on the films ‘Prospero’s Books’ and ‘The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover’. Fiennes went on to become a director of short films and documentaries. Her work earned her a generous fellowship from the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts.
The daughter of photographer Mark Fiennes and novelist Jennifer Lash, Fiennes hails from a prominent artistic clan. She is the sister of actors Ralph Fiennes, and Joseph Fiennes, fellow film maker Martha Fiennes, composer Magnus Fiennes, and Jacob Fiennes, a conservationist. She also has a foster brother, Michael Emery, an archaeologist.
