Neal Soss is the chief economist of Credit Suisse First Boston. He co-founded Soss & Cotton Enterprises, L.P., a money management firm and was previously a managing director and chief economist of the First Boston Corporation, an international investment banking firm. Before joining First Boston in 1984, Neil spent two years as assistant to Federal Reserve Board Chairman Paul A. Volcker. He was also a vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, responsible for bank supervision and foreign relations. From 1979 to 1981, he was director of the Banking Research and Economic Analysis Division of the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
