Stephen Solnick is the Moscow Representative of the Ford Foundation. Solnick received his Ph.D. in 1993 from Harvard University, and from 1993 to 2002 taught as Assistant and later Associate Professor of Political Science at Columbia University. He has been a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, a Research Fellow at the Kennan Institute in Washington, D.C., a Fulbright Scholar at Moscow State University, and a Marshall Scholar at Oxford University.

Solnick is the author of “Stealing the State: Control and Collapse in Soviet Institutions” as well as articles on Soviet and post-Soviet affairs in such journals as World Politics, Post-Soviet Affairs, East European Constitutional Review, Social Research and Problems of Post-Communism.
