Johnny Depp is an Academy Award-nominated and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning American actor. His first major role was in the horror film ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. He was later cast in a lead role on the FOX TV television series, ‘21 Jump Street’. He left his teen idol image after playing in Tim Burton?s ‘Edward Scissorhands’, and later, ‘Ed Wood’ and ‘Sleepy Hollow’.
In 1998, Depp starred in Hunter S. Thompson?s ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’. His status as a major star was solidified with the success of the 2003 Walt Disney Pictures film, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’. He has won numerous awards including four People?s Choice Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two London Critics Circle Film Awards.
