Billk Ivey, a folklorist and musician who was director of the Country Music Foundation in Nashville from 1971 to ‘98, was the seventh chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton and served from 1998 to 2001. He is currently the Director of the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise, and Public Policy at Vanderbilt University, an arts policy research center with offices in Nashville, Tennessee and Washington, DC. Ivey was awarded the Arts Leadership Award, a Governor’s Award in the Arts.
