Larry Augustin is the chairman and founder of VA Software. He founded the company in 1993 while a Ph.D. student in electrical engineering at Stanford University.

While at VA, he was one of the driving forces behind the creation of SourceForge, a popular collaborative software development management system.

He currently serves on the board of several companies, including Fonality, the Free Standards Group, JBoss, Linux International, MedSphere, the OSDL, Pentaho, SugarCRM, Compiere, VA Software, and Zend Technologies. Augustin also features in the 2001 documentary “Revolution OS”.
