Richard N. Ostling is Senior Correspondent for “Time” magazine, specializing in religion. During the 27 years with the weekly newsmagazine, he has written 22 cover stories and reported for 16 others. He has traveled to Africa, Israel, Vatican City, other parts of Europe, and locales across North America to interview important religious newsmakers and ordinary believers. He also broadcasts “Report on Religion”, which is syndicated nationwide twice a week by CBS Radio. He does regular religion reports for public television’s “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer”.
Ostling has won each of the six prizes for religious coverage in the general (non-religious) press, and has consistently received the hightest ratings among “Time” staffers in the annual MediaGuide. He is the president of the Religion Newswriters Association, the organization for working press specialists in the U.S. and Canada.
