Rupert James Hector Everett is an English writer and actor best known for his roles in ‘My Best Friend?s Wedding’ and ‘Shakespeare in Love’.
Everett?s break came with the 1982 West End production of ‘Another Country’, followed by a film version in 1984. In 1989 he wrote ‘Hello, Darling, Are You Working?’ After a few more films, including ‘The Comfort of Strangers’, he wrote another novel, ‘The Hairdresser of St. Tropez’ (1995).
Everett became a household name after starring opposite Julia Roberts in
‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ (1997). In 1999, he played Madonna’s gay best friend in ‘The Next Best Thing’ and sang backup on her cover of ‘American Pie’. Everett?s voice appeared in the smash hit ‘Shrek 2’ (2004) as Prince Charming. He is also a Vanity Fair contributing editor.
