Richard H. Shultz Jr. is an American security adviser and professor. He is director of research at the Consortium for the Study of Intelligence in Washington, D.C. Shultz is the recipient of numerous awards including the Harvard University’s Goldsmith Research Award from The Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy; and Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal.

Shultz serves on the Advisory Board of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Forces Institute, and the Special Operations Policy Advisory Group of the U.S. Department of Defense to name a few. He is also a member of the Board of Editors for such publications as “Small Wars and Insurgencies,” “Studies in Conflict and Terrorism,” and “Terrorism and Political Violence.” Shultz is also on the Selection Committee of the Vietnam Fullbright Program.
