Philip Baker Hall is an American actor.

Hall has starred in many films, but it was not until Paul Thomas Anderson wrote a specific role for Hall in his fill “Hard Eight” that a cult following arose. Hall went on to have significant roles in Anderson’s two subsequent films, “Boogie Nights” and “Magnolia”. He also had a minor role as Captain Diel in “Rush Hour”.

Additionally, he has had roles in “Ghostbusters II”, “Bruce Almighty”, “In Good Company”, “Dogville”, “The Amityville Horror”, “The Matador” and “Zodiac”. He is in a new sitcom on Fox called “The Loop”.
