Claudia Shear is an American actress and playwright. She first came to prominence with her 1994 self-penned solo performance piece “Blown Sideways Through Life”, at the off-Broadway Cherry Lane Theatre and which won her an Obie Award and a Drama Desk Award nomination. She wrote the 2000 play “Dirty Blonde,” her exploration of the life and career of Mae West, which earned her Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for both Best Play and Best Actress and won her the Theatre World Award.
