David A. Kaplan has been a senior writer at “Newsweek” since January 1992. From 1994 to 1995, Kaplan took a year’s leave from Newsweek to complete a book with former baseball commissioner Fay Vincent and then to be a John S. Knight Fellow in journalism at Stanford University. Prior to joining “Newsweek”, Kaplan was senior writer for “The National Law Journal”.
In 1991 and 1992, Kaplan shared the American Bar Association’s Silver Gavel Award for “Newsweek’s” coverage of the Supreme Court nomination process. In 1989, he was a finalist for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists.
