Laura Silber is Director of Public Affairs at the Open Society Institute, where she runs the Communications Department and plays a leading role in advocacy. Prior to joining OSI in 2000, Ms. Silber was a contributing writer at Talk magazine and covered the United Nations for the Financial Times.

She is the co-author of the critically acclaimed Yugoslavia: Death of a Nation, which was selected a New York Times notable book in 1996. She was a consultant to the accompanying television documentary series, which won the duPont Gold Baton and Peabody awards. She graduated from the School of International and Public Affairs Columbia University and received her BA from Carleton College.
