Derek McGinty is an American journalist. He joined ABC News in March, 2001, as an anchor and correspondent for “World News Now”. In addition to his duties for ABC and WJLA., he also serves as a correspondent for HBO’s “Real Sports.”

Prior to joining WJLA, McGinty was a correspondent for the CBS newsmagazine “Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel.” He was also the host of the PBS program “Straight Talk with Derek McGinty.” In 1994 the “The Derek McGinty Show” received the highest programming honor in public radio when it won the Gold Award for Public Affairs Programming from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
