Dr. Craig R. Smith is a cardiovascular surgeon who, since 2007, serves as Interim Chair of the Department of Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also is chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and the Calvin F. Barber Professor of Surgery Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.
He received the Practitioner of the Year Award in 2004 from the Society of Practitioners at New York Presbyterian Hospital. His current research involves long-term heart and lung transplantation outcomes and adaptation in cardiac transplantation.
