Mike Wallace is an American historian and academic. He is the Distinguished Professor of History at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, where he has taught since 1971. He is author, most recently, of ‘A New Deal for New York’ (2002) and coauthor of the Pulitzer Prize-winning ‘Gotham: A History of New York City to 1898’ (2000). He is also director of the Gotham Center for New York City History at the CUNY Graduate School. He is founder, co-publisher, and co-editor of the ‘Radical History Review’, Wallace has also served as consultant for Ric Burns’s documentary on New York.
