Frank Deford is a senior contributing American writer for ‘Sports Illustrated’, author, and commentator. He is also a correspondent for HBO’s ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel’ and a regular commentator for National Public Radio’s Morning Edition. His 1981 novel, “Everybody’s All-American,” was named one of ‘Sports Illustrated’s‘ Top 25 Sports Books of All Time and was later made into a movie.

Deford is also the chairman emeritus of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He has received numerous awards including Magazine Writer of the Year by the ‘Washington Journalism Review’ and the ‘National Magazine Award’. His books include ‘Everybody’s All-American’, ‘Alex: The Life of a Child’, and ‘Spy in the Deuce Court’.
