Kurt Vogel Russell is an American actor. Russell also had a baseball career, but retired in 1973 after a shoulder injury. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Special for the made-for-television film “Elvis”, directed by John Carpenter. Russell has teamed with Carpenter several other times, including “Big Trouble in Little China.” The movie gained a cult audience, and inspired the video game “Mortal Kombat”.
He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for his performance opposite Meryl Streep in “Silkwood”. Russell will next appear as the villain in Quentin Tarantino’s segment “Death Proof”, of the horror film “Grind House”.
