John Miller is the Bureau Chief to the Chief of Police and Commanding Officer of the newly formed Counter-Terrorism Bureau (CTB) for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Miller is a former Deputy Police Commissioner of New York City, where in 1994 he served as the chief spokesman for the NYPD under then Commissioner Bratton. Prior to joining the LAPD, Miller served as a correspondent and anchor for ABC News. During his five years with the network his primary focus was the coverage of terrorism. His work took him to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. His 1998 interview with terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden and his later coverage of al-Qaeda and the events of September 11th resulted in a number of prestigious awards. Miller has received two Peabody Awards and a DuPont Award.

Miller is the author of “The Cell: Inside the 9/11 Plot, And Why the FBI and CIA Failed to Stop It”.
