Jane Arraf is a television and print journalist. She studied journalism in Carleton University in Ottawa.
After beginning her career at Reuters, where she was a bureau chief in Montreal and later Amman, she joined CNN in 1997 as the Baghdad bureau chief until 2004 (except for 2000-01 as Istanbul bureau chief) then moving on to be a senior Baghdad correspondent. During the time she spent in CNN, she covered various subjects including most recently the second gulf war. She was the only western correspondent based in Iraq during the sanctions after the 1991 Gulf War.
Arraf is now with the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations and with NBC News, reporting for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.
