Donn Alan “D. A.” Pennebaker is an American documentary filmmaker and one of the pioneers of Direct Cinema. Performing arts and politics are his primary subjects. His company, Pennebaker Hegedus Films, has made a number of influential documentaries such as “Eat the Document”, “Only the Strong Survive”, “Al Franken: God Spoke” and “Rock N Roll Music”.
