Ira Mellman, Ph.D. is currently Sterling Professor of Cell Biology & Immunobiology at Yale University.

Mellman is the Chair of the Cell Biology Department and a member of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. Mellman is also the editor in chief of the Journal of Cell Biology and plays bass in his own rock band called “The Cellmates”. Mellman has participated in several biological studies, including research on cell wall proteins, endocytosis, polarized cells, and immune cells.
