Richard Curtis, CBE, is an Australian-born British screenwriter, best known for movies such as “Four Weddings and a Funeral” (1994), “Notting Hill” (1999), “Bridget Jones?s Diary” (2001) and “Love Actually” (2003). He worked closely with Rowan Atkinson on the hit TV programs “Blackadder” (1983-1989) and “Mr Bean” (1990-1005). Earlier in his career, he was a regular writer on the TV series “Not the Nine O?clock News,” where he often wrote with Rowan Atkinson, and also created the series “The Vicar of Dibley.”
Curtis was a founder of both Comic Relief and Make Poverty History and organized Live 8 concerts with Bob Geldof to publicize poverty, particularly in Africa.
