Diane Lane is an Academy Award-nominated American actress. She began acting professionally at the age of six at the La Mama Experimental Theatre in New York where she appeared in acclaimed productions of ?Medea? and ?The Cherry Orchard?, among others.
At 13, she made her film debut opposite Laurence Olivier in ?A Little Romance?, and by her late adolescence had become a hit with audiences in the back-to-back cult films ?The Outsiders? and ?Rumble Fish?. However, it wasn’t until 1989’s hugely popular and critically acclaimed TV mini-series ?Lonesome Dove? that Lane made another big impression on a sizable audience.
Lane appeared In Three ?Level 42? videos, and was nominated for an Emmy Award. In 1999, Lane received critical acclaim on the big screen for her role in ?A Walk on the Moon.?
In 2002 Lane was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actress for her performance in ?Unfaithful?, and was honored for her work in that film by The New York Film Critics and The National Society of Film Critics. She followed that up with Under the Tuscan Sun (2003), based on the best-selling book by Frances Mayes.
