Dr. Andrew Stephen Grove is an American businessman. He participated in the founding of Intel Corporation and was a key driving force in its rapid success.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the City College of New York in 1960, graduating at the head of his class. After settling in California, he received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1963. In 2006, he made a 26,000,000 USD donation to City College of New York, the largest donation ever made to that school.

Grove worked at Fairchild Semiconductor before becoming the fourth employee at the nascent Intel Corporation. He became Intel’s president in 1979, its CEO in 1987, and its Chairman and CEO in 1997. He relinquished his CEO title in May 1998 and remained Chairman of the Board until November, 2004. Grove continues his work at Intel as a senior advisor.
