Martin Anderson is an American political consultant and scholar, currently serving as the Keith and Jan Hurlbut Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He has worked on the campaigns of various Republican presidential candidates and as a scholar at several conservative think tanks. He has authored or coauthored numerous books on urban renewal, welfare reform, the military draft, and Ronald Reagan. While working for then-presidential candidate Reagan in 1979, Anderson helped generate ideas for what would later be dubbed the Star Wars missile defense system. Anderson is also a former member of the Pentagon’s internal think tank, the Defense Policy Board.
