Denzel Washington is an Oscar winning actor. Washington got his early break on television, playing Dr. Phillip Chandler in the television drama ‘St. Elsewhere’. He received critical praise for his role in the movie ‘A Soldier’s Story’, and was nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for ‘Cry Freedom’. His portrayal of boxer Ruben Carter earned him another Oscar nomination for the movie ‘The Hurricane’. Washington won a Best Actor Oscar for his role as a rogue cop in the 2001 film, ‘Training Day’. He earned his first Oscar in 1989 for a best supporting actor role in the ‘Civil War film Glory’.
