Frank Darabont is a film director, screenwriter and producer. He has been involved in the production of two Academy Award-nominated films: he wrote and directed “The Shawshank Redemption” (2004), receiving a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, and directed, scripted and produced “The Green Mile” (1999), for which he also received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. The 2001 “The Majestic” was not as well received.

Prior to his directing career, Darabont was a highly successful and sought after screenwriter, with genre films that included “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors,” “The Blob” and “The Fly II.” He is also known to have doctored the scripts of the Steven Spielberg films “Saving Private Ryan” and “Minority Report.”
