Vijay Vaitheeswaran is a science correspondent for “The Economist” covering health care and the pharmaceutical industry. He formerly served as “The Economist’s” environment and energy correspondent, and as its first staff correspondent in Latin America, in Mexico City. In 2005 Vaitheeswaran published the book “Power for the People, How the Coming Energy Revolution will Change our Lives, and maybe even Save the Planet,” and he is co-writing a forthcoming book on the future of the car. He is a frequent commentator on science-policy issues on television and radio.
