Sir Ridley Scott is an influential Academy Award-nominated English film director and producer. His body of work includes such cult films as “Legend,” starring Tom Cruise, and “Thelma & Louise,” earning his first Oscar nomination. In 1995 Scott co-founded the film and television production company Scott Free Productions with his brother. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Directing, and was knighted in the 2003 New Year Honours.

The success of Scott’s film “Gladiator” has been credited with the revival of the nearly defunct genre of the “sword and sandal” historical epic. “Black Hawk Down” further re-established Scott’s position as both a critically and financially successful film maker and went on to earn two Oscars.
