Joel Surnow is an American writer and producer. He is best known for being the creator of the Emmy winning television series “24”. He also produces the Fox News Channel “The Half Hour News Hour”. He began writing for television with the series “Miami Vice”.

Surnow is also the co-creator and executive producer of the 1997-2001 television series “La Femme Nikita”, but has also written scripts for other popular series such as “Nowhere Man”, and “Wiseguy”.
