Richard Warren Schickel is a British author, journalist, and documentary filmmaker. He is a film critic for “Time” magazine. Schickel has lectured at Yale University and University of Southern California’s School of Film and Television. He was a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1964, and has won the British Film Institute Book Prize.

Schickel is writing the film biography of actor, director and producer Clint Eastwood. His other books have included “Intimate Strangers: The Culture of Celebrity”; and “D.W. Griffith: An American Life”. His television and film projects include “The Men Who Made Movies”, an eight-part PBS series, “Life Goes to the Movies”, and a documentary on the making of Clint Eastwood’s “Unforgiven”.
