Kathleen Turner is an Academy Award nominated American actress. In 1978, she made her acting debut in the NBC daytime soap opera “The Doctors.” Turner soon launched a successful film career, making her debut in “Body Heat” (1981). Turner also starred in “Romancing the Stone,” for which she won a Golden Globe. Turner?s movies include “The Jewel of the Nile,” “Prizzi’s Honor,” for which she won a second Golden Globe, and “Peggy Sue Got Married,” for which Turner received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. In the 1990s, Turner took smaller roles, including a role in Sofia Coppola’s acclaimed debut, “The Virgin Suicides.”
In recent years Turner has found success on the stage. After nineties roles in Broadway productions of “Indiscretions” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress, Turner starred in a London stage version of “The Graduate” in 2000. In 2005, Turner began the role of Martha in the Broadway revival of “Who?s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”
