Melinda French Gates is a former Microsoft unit manager of Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Bob, Microsoft Encarta, and Microsoft Expedia. In 1994, she married Bill Gates, founder, Chairman, and former Chief Software Architect of Microsoft.
Today Gates attends the Bilderberg Group and holds a seat on the board of Directors of The Washington Post Company. Gates retired from the board of Drugstore.com in August, 2006 to spend more time working for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a charitable organization to which she and her husband have given more than $24 billion. The Gates Foundation, the world’s largest private charity, focuses on a range of social issues, from third world development to public education.
