Robert Alan Edwards is an award-winning American public radio broadcaster.
Edwards hosted NPR’s flagship program, ‘Morning Edition’, from the show’s inception in 1979 until 2004. The show won a George Foster Peabody Award in 1999, and it was the second highest rated broadcast show. In 2004, NPR replaced Edwards as host of ‘Morning Edition’, and he decided to leave the station instead of taking the position of senior correspondent for NPR News.
In October 2004, the ‘The Bob Edwards Show’ premiered on XM Satellite Radio, followed in January 2006 by the ‘Bob Edwards Weekend’ show, distributed by Public Radio International and available on select public radio stations. Edwards has also written several books, including a biography on Edward R. Murrow. In November 2004, Bob Edwards was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.
